Benefits The purpose of this application is threefold: 1. To provide the THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE of actions that have to be taken by ship’s crew on the following threats. Precautions against armed attacks Hijacking Bomb Threats Unidentified Objects / Explosives on Vessel Bomb Threats / Damage / Destruction of Port Facility Piracy Stowaways
2. To provide SIMULATED EXERCISES on the above threats in order to test user’s ability to respond in similar cases. The user must act rationally on giving orders (on a real time expanded scenario) to ship’s personnel in order to encounter the threat. User’s decisions will have impact on the crew performance. The scenario will unfold to paths unknown to the user where the life of the crew could be at stake. Missing actions are prompted by the computer for assisting user to follow a correct path of actions.
3. To provide a THREAT SCENARIO EDITOR for creating real-time scenarios of any type of threat. With the “Threat Scenario Editor”, the Ship Security Officer or the Company Security Officer can create any type of scenario he wishes to exercise onboard. It is very useful tool which helps on describing a threat, interconnecting with other threats providing the actions that have to be taken onboard during execution of the drill.
